Welcome to CASA of Siskiyou County
The CASA Board of Directors seized the opportunity to honor their advocates at a special reception on Wednesday, April 18. Appropriately held at the restaurant Audacity on Main Street in Yreka, the evening was dedicated to the “bold and persistent” commitment of these volunteers, who have been appointed by the Juvenile Court to become acquainted with children in the foster care system and report to the court on the child’s needs and wellbeing.
Twenty-five CASA volunteers joined with the Board and guests in the celebration. Jo Larsen and Charlotte Baney received special recognition for having completed more than 6 years of service within the program which was initiated in April 2005. Denis Wheeler and Dorinda Thompson each received five-year pins. Judge William Davis and Attorney Rob Bicego both graciously addressed the gathering, and expressed appreciation for the meaningful and effective work of the Volunteers.
CASA volunteers advocated for 65 children during 2011, and served 2,347 hours overall.
